  • Engineering Roles: A degree in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Ratings: ₹15,000–₹50,000 per month.

07. Ex-Soldier

Ex-soldiers with relevant experience or qualifications may receive preferences for specific roles, subject to Merchant Navy entry norms.

08. Reservation

Reservations (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) are implemented as per government rules for Indian institutes conducting Merchant Navy training or recruitment.

09. Sportsperson

Exceptional sportspersons may receive relaxation in age or eligibility criteria, depending on policies of the recruitment body.

10. Promotion in Career

Promotion depends on performance, experience, and certifications:

  • Deck Cadet → Third Officer → Second Officer → Chief Officer → Captain.
